Microaggression

A microaggression is a subtle form of discrimination, expressed in normalised ways, that degrades members of marginalized groups.

Examples of microaggressions against people in the LGBTQIAP community: saying things like ‘that’s so gay’,’no homo’, or asking a homosexual or queer couple who the “man” in their relationship is.

Examples of microaggressions against people of colour: saying things like “you speak so well/you are so articulate”, “you’re white on the inside” or “you look so exotic” to people of colour.
